BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Systems Engineer, specializing in Functional Safety at our Indiana Technical Center (ITC) in Kokomo, Indiana.

In this role, the Systems Engineer with a Functional Safety focus will support the PDS, Electronic Controllers product line and perform the following duties below.

Job Duties:

  • Work with customer to establish and capture safety requirements in document form
  • Work with customer on product design for safety by creating required ISO 26262 supporting documentation and testing
  • Work with design team to create product documents to capture and product requirements and implementation per ASPICE and ISO 26262 processes
  • Work with design team to establish requirement traceability in Polarion requirements management tool
  • Work with design team to understand how to implement and test requirements
  • Work with test groups to ensure proper compliance matrix traceability documents


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or other engineering discipline preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in general electrical engineering; however, preference will be given to those with 8+ years
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical engineering design; will consider less years with Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering related field
  • Automotive experience preferred

This position will adhere to the Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Safety Policy Manual.  This individual will work in a manner that stresses the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses.  He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and co-workers.  In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to their immediate supervisor.
