BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Start Center Mechanical Engineer at our Indiana Technical Center (ITC) with locations in Kokomo and Noblesville, Indiana.

The Start Center Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing the functional expertise and skills needed to quote various power electronics products based on customer specific requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Lead quoting activities for specific new business pursuits
  • Communicate quote needs to various functional areas within the company
  • Analyze customer requirements
  • Mentor and train less experienced engineers; documents best practices
  • Interface with customer technical personnel contacts
  • Create product concepts and provide direction to senior designers
  • Create Bill of Materials for various power electronic products
  • Estimate engineering related project development costs such as people, capital, and expenses
  • Estimate custom component costs using various cost modeling tools
  • Estimate production tooling costs and calculate tooling capacities
  • Perform mechanical analysis such as thermal, structural, and fluid flow.
  • Create customer technical review presentations as needed
  • Support various leadership communication meetings and documents
  • Think of ways / methods to reduce cost

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years field experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience working on Power Electronics Products
  • Must be proficient with various ANSYS related Software Packages
  • Must have been the Lead Mechanical Engineer on at least one program
  • Must be confident and composed in front of the customer
  • Must be capable of at least 25% Domestic and International travel, must not have global travel restrictions
