BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Accountant Supervisor at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for general administrative accounting: financial reporting, month end, inventory accounting, both in US GAAP and local GAAP
  • Coordinates the execution of all accounting activities, including payments and receipts, cash flow management, invoicing management
  • Develops statement regarding balance sheet, profit and loss and other accounting reports
  • Responsible for fulfilling statutory requirements (including taxes).
  • Ensures to support all activities surrounding the annual audit performed by external auditors.
  • Performs review of financial and operational statements
  • Establish continuous improvement plans that lead to a more efficient organization
  • Facilitate efficient and open communication within the department and with other departments in the organization.
  • Ensure the respect and compliance with the safety and cleanliness rules of the workstation.
  • Continuously ensure the improvement of health, safety and environmental conditions.
  • Participate in the definition, implementation and maintenance of the organization's policies.
  • Participate in the definition of objectives of the Environmental Management Policy, Health and Safety at Work.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management Policy, Health and Safety at Work.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety at work standards, policies and practices in accordance with their level of responsibility.
  • Develop a culture characterized by good professional ethics and involvement in the process among employees in all areas.
  • Comply with environmental, health and safety, quality and productivity standards.
  • Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, practice and working period
  • Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules.
  • Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which they were hired, when the needs or convenience of service so warrant, for the period of time necessary for the aforementioned needs or convenience of service.

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Economy or Management
  • Four or more years of experience as supervisor
  • Certified accountant (TOC)
  • Mastery of Portugal accounting standards
  • Depth knowledge in taxation
  • Very good knowledge of international accounting standards
  • US GAAP knowledge
  • SAP ERP System good knowledge
  • Good knowledge and proven capabilities in investment support programs
  • Good computer skills
  • Results Oriented
  • Interpersonal Communication
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent in Portuguese
