BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems (PDS) is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Manager, Advanced Systems Engineering at our Propulsion Technical Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

As a Manager in Advanced Systems Engineering team the individual will be leading the innovation work in electrified system engineering of Electric Drives, DCDC converters, On-Board Chargers and other novel product ideas for future electric propulsion systems. The role would provide opportunity to identify product engineering key-indicators, benchmark technologies in electric mobility and develop engineering solutions to enhance the existing product features and demonstrate future product features. Additionally, the individuals will get an opportunity to collaborate with competence centers for Electric Machines, Power electronics, Software and Driveline in developing future product vision and product demonstration ideas.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Passion for engineering with strong fundamentals in electrical and mechatronics engineering
  • Passion for electric mobility and automotive engineering
  • Proven track record in automotive electrification field of engineering
    • Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems, traction electric machines, traction inverters, DCDC converters, On-Board chargers
  • Strong understating of automotive network communication and torque management
  • Strong understanding in physics-based modelling in Matlab and Simulink environment
  • Strong understanding of data analysis and report generation
  • Strong understanding of electric vehicle torque and energy management schemes
  • Good understanding of testing, standards and certification processes for electric vehicle, electric drive,
  • and power conversion systems.
  • Strong understanding of automotive vehicle engineering basics (physics and mechanics)
  • Strong understanding of vehicle control systems and energy optimization methods
  • Strong program planning and program management experience
  • Should be able to represent BorgWarner in technology forums and engineering events
  • Should have experience in writing product requirements and executing engineering work through product development V-cycle
  • Good written and oral skills to articulate complex engineering problems
  • Must be able to work in a team environment in a cross functional discipline
  • Should have proven record of leading multi-facetted teams, should have proven record of developing strategic
  • vision and executing work attributes towards the same.
  • Self-driven attitude with curiosity towards engineering next generation propulsion systems
  • Should have a proven track record of issue resolution, conflict management, performance appraisal,
  • communication and leadership.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors or Master’s (preferred) in electrical, mechatronics or automotive engineering
  • Must have previous experience managing people
  • Data analysis, Analytical approach to problem solving
  • Skilled in using MS office tools such as Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Visio
  • 6+ years of automotive industry experience.
