In our Drivetrain Systems business unit, we are looking to strengthen our team with the addition of an: Software Architect

This position will be responsible for all technical aspects of the software architectural design for our drivetrain electronic controls systems such as AWD products. This role will work in conjunction with cross functional teams providing technical leadership and engineering guidance to support the execution of software development including: requirement analysis, architecture design, requirement decomposition, requirement allocation and software integration.

Key Accountabilities                       

• Responsible for the software architectural design of drivetrain engineering application projects
• Provides technical direction and consulting on software development to all product development teams
• Analyze and Estimate SW Architecture Activities and Tasks
• Support the decomposition and allocation of system requirements
• Support the development of system architectures
• Support the development of electronics architectures
• Support software requirement specification, analysis, decomposition, and allocation
• Analyze software requirements and define software architecture elements
• Performs allocation of software requirements to software architectural elements
• Define interfaces and dynamic behavior of software elements
• Analyze resources and establish consumption objectives
• Establishes and Maintains bi-directional traceability between SW Architecture, SW Requirements and SW Design
• Support and Consult on the Specification of SW Integration Testing
• Support and Consult on SW integration Activities
• Perform root cause analysis, problem solving, and resolution for identified issues
• Support, Maintain, and Update planning and tracking activities, including the assigned work items, change requests, and defects
• Store and manage all work products according to the Configuration Management plan
• Perform consistency checks, and peer reviews of SW work products
• Identify and propose process improvements
• Work with the project team to achieve the performance and cost targets as well as communication with customers in a timely manner
• Work with other BorgWarner engineers and departments to ensure that program goals are met, schedules are maintained and problems encountered during the development process are resolved

  Your Profile

• Bachelor degree in Engineering required, Master’s degree preferred
• Automotive experience required, drivetrain and all-wheel drive systems preferred
• Familiarity with automotive electrical systems (brush/brushless DC motors, solenoids, relays, electromagnetic coils, switches, indicators, etc.) preferred
• Experience in engineering field with detailed working knowledge of embedded software and controls
• Proven track record of technical team leadership
• Experience in SW Architecture Specification and Modeling
• Mastery of an architectural modeling language (SysML, UML, Simulink, Enterprise Architect, or equivalent) 
• Strong practical Automotive 32-bit Multi-core Microcontroller Architecture knowledge required
• Expert level experience with defining logical blocks, boundaries, execution rates, scheduling, interfaces and data types, allocation of the logical blocks to software and hardware architecture, allocation of Requirements to logical blocks, integration and Verification of the architecture
• Practical AUTOSAR experience. Preferred Vector MicroSAR
• Functional Safety (ISO 26262) knowledge and impact to architecture
• Highly capable when working with Model-Based Development tools. Matlab Simulink/Stateflow preferred
• Strong working knowledge of C programming language for embedded systems
• Proven ability to generate efficient C source code from model-based designs. TargetLink preferred
• Excellent model and source code debugging skills
• Expertise working with network protocols (e.g. CAN) required and associated tools
• Experience with Software Configuration, Release and Change Management is required
• ASPICE Software development process experience is required
• Must be able to work independently
• Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis preferred
