Participates in the development of design standards for tools and techniques. Creates, develops and adapts design concepts based on input from customers and engineers using advanced design tools and techniques. Produce accurate working 2D drawings and 3D models, which include details, assemblies, layout drawings and stack-ups, from verbal or written instructions, using 3D modeling.

Support the CAD based design of new or existing products through the skilled use of CAD languages such as CATIA, NX and CREO.

Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of creativity and understanding of manufacturing processes and tolerances.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Teamwork – Considers and seeks out the impact of his/her actions within the teamActively seeks collaboration with internal and external team members. 

CAD knowledge and rapid use of the CAD tools in generation of designs and detail drawings/models including generation of solid models. 

Produces clear designs using accepted drafting standards and conventions. 

Knowledge of product mechanics for hydraulic, mechanical, magnetic and electro-mechanical products and systems as appropriate. 

Apply new analysis technologies as assigned. 

Responsible for preparing and presenting analysis results to internal and external project customers. 

Technical interface with customers for activities that include CAD tools, techniques, and capabilitiesThis would include professional representation of BorgWarner in all areas of possible CAD activity. 

Demonstrates knowledge and responsibility for the performance of the quality system and standards. 

Interaction between the designer and Engineer is frequent as development changes the initial request. 

Work is requested and completed with moderate decision making.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Professional Diploma in Design. 

  • 5 plus years of experience 

  • Experience in CAD preferred.  

  • Material standards and use knowledge. 

  • Good working knowledge of product development environment and practice.
