DUTIES: BorgWarner PDS (USA), Inc. seeks a Sr Software Engineer based out of our office at 3800 Automation Ave, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. Note, this position requires international and domestic travel, as needed, up to 10%.

Duties include: implement functional safety concept development for Software involving hardware and system development; work with cross-functional teams including controls engineering group, functional safety manager, and suppliers to develop and implement safety plans throughout the development lifecycle; perform impact analysis and develops safety work products to meet electrified powertrain functional safety compliance; coordinate with the Functional Safety Manager (FSM) and System Engineers to be the main customer interface for safety topics and safety status reporting; provide status of safety activities to the FSM/Sys as requested; work closely with system safety architecture and controls group to design safety mechanisms; provide planning directions to V&V team for verification and validation of the safety architecture; develop the safety software, case report and safety analysis reports; interface with external contractors (e.g., consultancy/ offshore services) in cases of outsourcing some of deliverables; participate in ECU design reviews with internal cross-functional engineering group, suppliers, and customers; collaborate with cross-functional teams on functional safety topics; work with Functional Safety Managers) to ensure ISO26262 compliance on products; assist in debugging through established problem-solving techniques; and other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field and 60 months of experience in job offered or related position in automotive software design.

Experience must include: Experience conducting AUTOSAR Architecture and configuration; experience conducting software development processes using the V-Model;      experience using automotive development tools, including compilers, debuggers, TESSY, and DOORS; experience reading ECU schematics and hardware-software interfaces; experience conducting microcontroller software development of micro and external device low level drivers.

Note, this position requires international and domestic travel, as needed, up to 10%.
