This opportunity is for an Embedded Software Test Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team developing high impact technology products for the In this position you will be part of the Software Development Team within the development group eSTC (electronics Spain Technical Center). We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious engineer to lead the software development activities in the software department to achieve high-quality standards in the development of new products.

You will solve and coordinate all necessary technical issues during the development of the product within BorgWarner and towards the customer. You will work and grow in a new electronics group, building a promising global technical center who will support projects and divisions all over the world. Laboratory facilities are available in the workspace. Proximity to a production plant, so that the result of the work can be seen directly. Multicultural interaction within our technical centers located in Germany, China, and the US. Direct contact with the customer and suppliers.
Software, Hardware, Integration and Mechanical Design departments work and interact very often in a multi-location environment (Portugal, Spain, Germany, China).

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the work to achieve software deliveries that meet the input requirements and program expectations with agreed resources and other prerequisites. Lead software configuration management, software requirements, software integration, software releases and development environments.
  • Analyze the sources of software requirements and identify which requirements need to be implemented in the software.
  • Coordination of software development activities within the project.
  • Scheduling, organizing, and logging the needed meetings among the team members.
  • Scope clarification with internal/external customer.
  • Maintaining the schedule and release plan, analyzing trends for each milestone, and managing all needed resources for the software development assigned to the project.
  • Being the interface person between other teams and the software development team.
  • Ensure the transparent flow of information, documentation, and responsibility at each stage of the project.
  • Mitigate all risks and be aware of any opportunities.
  • Monitor project issues.
  • Ensure that lessons are learnt and feedback into the contract award stages for future projects.
  • Provide clear action plans and status reports with named responsibilities and deadlines for presentation to senior management, customers, department heads, and project team members alike.
  • Have full understanding of the project status at any time, which enables the correct reporting to management.
  • Identify project risks and make recommendations to minimize risk.
  • Identify work packages to be outsourced. Manage the suppliers to meet project planning and deliverable quality.
  • Represent the software project in any internal/external Audits.
  • Last responsible for the software work products.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering or studies related (Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, etc.)
  • Language skills (must):
    • Spanish high level proficient user
    • English (fluent read, write, speak)
    • German (highly valuable)
  • Experience in the management of teams within the Organization.

Valuable

  • Knowledge of the V model for software development.
  • Experience working in the Automotive Industry.
  • Proven experience in deploying and managing software development projects in the Automotive SPICE projects.
  • Proven experience in deploying and managing software development projects in the ISO 26262 Road vehicles Functional Safety projects.
  • PMP certification.
  • Agile training

Soft skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to influence others, set direction and priorities.
  • Transversal overview.
  • Ability to relate to individuals at all levels and build appropriate relationships.

Technical Skills:

  • SW project planning. Scheduling technics.
  • Knowledge of C programming.
  • Knowledge of the Embedded Systems.
  • Communication Protocols and Standards:  LIN, CAN, UDS.
  • General knowledge of Firmware updates (Bootloader).
  • Testing technics (Static, Unit, Integration, Qualification).
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)

Valuable

  • Familiarity with JIRA, SVN, Bitbucket and Polarion.
  • Agile methodologies
  • Knowledge of Vector tools.
  • Certification on ISO26262.
  • Experience working in Cybersecurity applied to embedded systems.
