                                                                 Position Information

Performance Standards

  • Responsible for tracking and updating metrics related to environmental, health and safety compliance and initiatives
  • Reviews, updates and develops site-specific EHS programs, policies and procedures
  • Must have a good understanding of all policies and procedures contained in the Global Safety Star Framework Program (GSSF)
  • Conduct new hire orientation to prepare incoming employees for job responsibilities and expectations
  • Complete hazard assessments and risk analysis for new, modified or relocated processes
  • Assist the site EHS lead with conformance to OSHA VPP, EPA, DOT, RCRA, GSSF, corporate regulations
  • Provide administrative support to the EHS Department
  • Develop and review written Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures
  • Educate and train employees on environmental, health and safety guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure understanding and compliance with all legal, regulatory and corporate rules and regulations
  • Drive EHS continuous improvement projects at the department level
  • Support the site Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure conformance to the ISO 14001:2015 standard
  • Manage Hearing Conservation Program (HCP) activities to comply with OSHA’s Occupational Noise Exposure standard
  • Perform inspections and audits using the Gensuite system to evaluate EHS compliance to OSHA, EPA, DOT, MDEQ and ISO 14001 regulations and standards
  • Lead efforts to achieve site continuous improvement projects
  • Provide manufacturing floor support to assist in development of best practices at the department level

Education, Skills and Knowledge Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related field
  • Minimum of two years EHS experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Capable of acquiring First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to work on a cross-functional team

This position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires.  This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses.  He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and co-workers.  In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.
