POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for leading the Software and Controls team.  This person will need to oversee and manage system software development related to the cutting-edge energy transition technology.  The employee will coordinate resources and activities in multiple locations, prioritizing activities, provide coaching, tools, and processes for software development best-practices, and programming in support of a complex system.  The position will work closely with internal resources as well as customer(s) and suppliers to ensure seamless integration of subsystems into the overall architecture, providing flexibility for future functional and product line growth.

           

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Align, communicate with, and support the Director and the Program Management team in the delivery of program initiatives, ensuring broader communication of activities with the project team.
  • Ownership of the complete software development lifecycle, adapting to project timelines.
  • Apply advanced software technical and business knowledge to address major risks, challenges, and obstacles.
  • Work closely with product development engineers to architect and develop simple solutions to complex problems and identify gaps in architecture requirements.
  • Must be able to collaborate with Global R&D groups and drive inclusivity into team dynamics.
  • Responsible for directing and mentoring software development personnel with various projects and their activities.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of software engineering team using Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software releases.
  • Continue to build an effective development organization by recruiting and hiring of engineers, developing, and managing the group, and conducting performance reviews of team members.
  • Identify tools and facilities to support software development, version control, and software testing.
  • Participate in Team Meetings and reviews with Leadership.
  • Ensure compliance at the local engineering software levels to meet global organization best practices.
  • Drive corrective actions to software issues and ensure lessons learned are provided across the global software development team.
  • Communicate and enforce safe work procedures.
  • Working knowledge with software languages, JIRA, CANBUS, and open source software tools.
  • Travel up to 2 times per year may be necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors Degree; Masters Degree preferred

15+ years of experience

Requires experience in software development lifecycle process applied on electromechanical devices.

Experience organizing, leading, and coordinating cross-functional teams with decentralized / matrix supervision.

Must be a highly motivated individual with strong ethical standard and appropriate professional image. 

A strategic planner with strong technical skills, analytical ability, excellent problem-solving skills, good judgment and strong business focus. 

Well-organized and self-directed individual who is “politically savvy” and a team player.  Relates to people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication skills. 

A good educator who is trustworthy and willing to listen, to share information and serve as a mentor.
