BorgWarner is looking for talented Power Electronic engineers who reinforce the PCBA development team in Spain. The team is working close with OEMs involved in the new automotive market disruption, taking part of it and developing the vehicles of the future.

In this general position you will be responsible, as Power Electronics Engineer, for part of the development of our High Voltage Air and Coolant heaters for hybrid and electric vehicles. You will be involved either coordinating, developing or testing in the different technical issues which arise during the development of the product within BorgWarner and towards the customer.

You will work and grow in a new electronics group, building a promising technical center who will support projects and divisions all over the world. System, Software, Hardware, Test and PCBA Transversal departments work and interact very close in a regular basis. Power Electronics laboratory is available in the workspace. Direct contact with the customer and production plants.

SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

These are the different positions available. Keep in mind the scope of the team is PCBA development so the system is defined as PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly).

Electronic project leader role:

  • Coordination of projects at PCBA level, managing the activities of a PCBA cross functional team (HW, SW, System and Test), setting clear goals, objectives and delivery targets.
  • Managing the PCBA development timing and release plan within product milestones. Defining and planning work packages. Coordination and follow-up.
  • Ensure the transparent flow of information, documentation and responsibility at each stage of the project from contract award and initial prototype testing through to PPAP completion, SOP and beyond.
  • Being the interface person between the Application Engineer in the plant and the PCBA development team in your location.
  • Ensure that lessons are learnt and feedback into the contract award stages for future projects.
  • Mitigate all risks and be aware of any opportunities.
  • Provide clear action plans and status reports with named responsibilities and deadlines for presentation to senior management, customers, department heads, and project team members alike.
  • Ensure that any changes to the project plans are fully assessed and any impact to cost, schedule, quality and technical requirement are reviewed, understood and agreed with the team.

System engineer role:

  • Analyzing and understanding customer requirements (internal and external) and their implications in the PCBA system.
  • Perform trade-off studies to determine the preferred implementation scenario for new or changed functions.
  • Deep understanding with other team members support of key features of the product.
  • System formalization by means of requirements and PCBA functional architecture.
  • Support in customer presentations and discussions.

Hardware engineer role:

  • Specify, document and develop electronic hardware solutions to control and interface the company´s range of automotive components
  • Creation of detailed hardware requirements
  • Develop schematics and PCBA layout to match customer requirements
  • Design of high voltage products (450V to 1200V)
    • Experience with high side switches and IGBTs
  • Experience of creepage and clearance specifications for high voltage design IEC 60664
  • Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium  (Layout: 4-6 layers routing /  Schematics)
  • Simulation tools, like LTSPICE, MicroCap, MultiSim
  • Experience in production oriented design
  • Knowledge of EMC requirements, testing and compliance 

Software engineer role:

  • Analysis and design of the software requirements, software architecture and software detail design.
  • Implementation of Embedded Software in C in accordance to the Automotive SPICE required.
  • Knowledge of static code analysis and MISRA 2012.
  • Knowledge of CAN/CAN-FD & LIN Bus vehicle communications
  • Experience in software project management.
  • Good knowledge of C embedded programming microcontrollers; 8-bit, 16bit (Renesas valuable) and 32bit microcontrollers (ARM Cortex M0+)
  • Knowledge of ISO TS 16949 Quality systems -- Automotive suppliers compliance
  • Tools and languages: IAR IDE, GIT, Python, Matlab/Simulink and UML
  • Vector tools: CANoe, CANape, CANdela, CANdb
  • ECU diagnostic and calibration standards: CCP/xCP, UDS (over CAN and LIN)

Test engineer role:

  • test management to meet SPICE test work products and procedures for the full development life cycle of the product
  • test case execution and reporting
  • Experience in Software Development.
  • High voltage testing experience.
  • Programming skills and knowledge: LabView, CANoe (CAPL).
  • Experience in automation of test case execution.
  • Experience managing laboratory instruments.
