Supporting Local Talent: Sponsoring Wyke Rugby League Club’s Under-8s

We are proud to support our local community by sponsoring the shirts of Wyke Rugby League Club’s Under-8s team.

James, a Manufacturing Engineer at our BorgWarner Bradford site and a coach at the club, approached us for support, and we were delighted to get involved. Founded in August 1890, Wyke RL is the oldest amateur rugby league club in the country, with 150 players across various age groups and a dedicated team of volunteers keeping the club going.

“Sponsorship from local businesses allows the kids to proudly represent their team in matching club colours while showcasing their sponsors across Yorkshire,” James shared. “A heartfelt thanks to BorgWarner Bradford for sponsoring our Under-8s team. The kids wore their new kit for the first time at a local tournament on 20th July, and with a summer packed full of games, they will be putting it to good use.”

At this level, rugby remains a mixed sport, with both girls and boys playing together in the same team. Manufacturing Engineering Manager Nathan recently handed over one of the new shirts to the club mascot—James, fully suited up for the occasion!
