In this role, reporting directly to the Supervisor of eMotor PE team, Rotating Electric Machines the Sr. Engineer, Electric Machine Design will provide world class electric machine design and analysis, for new product development and continuous improvement projects.  Recognized within Industry Sector as an authority in a technical field. Often instrumental in attracting and obtaining new company business contracts. Generates innovative new concepts in electric machine core product areas:  traction motors, and powertrain accessory motors.

[Key Accountabilities]

  • Responsible for design, development, analysis, and testing of eMotor
  • Analysis, simulation and implementation of customer requirements
  • Definition and coordination of the eMotor architecture, eMotor sensors and connection technology
  • Coordination of technical interfaces for the eMotor components
  • Definition of requirements and creation of specification sheets for the eMotor components
  • Coordination of the technical requirements for the eMotor components with suppliers
  • Support of the project manager and program team, for the eMotor application (including the eMotor specifics within new business quotations)
  • Work closely with customers and partners for all aspects of eMotor vehicle application and testing
  • Participate in and facilitate concept reviews, design reviews, and design FMEAs
  • Participate in and facilitate failure analysis and corrective actions
  • Cooperation with system development, electronics development, construction, testing and suppliers
  • Drive the development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency, and reduce cost
  • Develop and maintain a responsive and cooperative working relationship with internal and external customers
  • Provide troubleshooting support as needed for product development and field problems
  • Communicate effectively with customers to obtain design requirements, and report updates & final results
  • Support manufacturing engineering on development of new methods of manufacture for eMotor
  • Work with a global engineering group that are interconnected and committed to continuous learning from best practices and each other

[Education / Experience]

  • Bachelor or Master degree of Science in Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in automotive field
  • Extensive knowledge of the design of electrical machines (eMotor design for manufacturing is a importance requirement)
  • High level of analytical ability, understand of engineering theory and principles of design work environment
  • Exposure to quality process, IATF16949
  • Familiarity with industry standards for electric motor design and manufacturing
