Senior Manager – Global Security reports into the BorgWarner Administrative Office and is based at our World Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  This position has oversight for corporate-wide physical security to include risk assessment consultation, investigations of criminal acts or company policy violations, executive protection, critical event management, special event security, loss prevention, and travel security.


The primary duty of the Senior Manager – Global Security is to lead BorgWarner company-wide programs, policies, and initiatives related to physical security toward the purpose of providing a safe and secure workplace environment.

  • Responsible management of contractual partnerships of service providers within the field of physical security to include; guard force management, security technology, investigations, executive protection, crisis management, and travel security
  • Develop and maintain physical security related policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and related documentation
  • Frequent engagement with BorgWarner business units and local site leadership to properly understand their current and future security concerns and needs
  • Develop a global security strategy aligned with the Global Operations Services strategic plan
  • Management of global security communication channels including security related content published on intranet web-pages, shared network drives, and community message blogs
  • Define scope of work, establish clear objectives, and manage the performance of Regional Security Managers assigned to EMEA and APAC.  Self-administrate same scope of work, objectives, and performance expectations for the Americas
  • Maintain open lines of communication and alignment between GOS functional units, especially during events or projects which require teams to collaborate and support each other
  • Effective management of the annual fiscal budget allocation through diligent administration of travel, team expenses, and contracted services
  • Remain accessible 24x7x365 and provide leadership to the Critical Event Management Team, including the establishment of proper procedures and ensuring that cross-functional team members are identified and appropriately trained
  • Subject matter expert of case management for internal investigations regarding loss prevention, workplace violence, vandalism, sabotage, fraud, compromised proprietary information, misconduct, and other similar events that are either criminal or a violation of corporate policy or ethics
  • Provision of personal protection of company executives, Board of Directors, and other individuals as assigned
  • Special event security planning and management
  • Routine site visits of company locations for the purpose of assessing physical security vulnerabilities, recommending corrective actions, and partnering with site stakeholders to resolve identified issues
  • Serves as liaison with community, local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies

Responsibilities include acting as the advocate for BorgWarner interests, providing physical security and crisis management services to business unit leaders, and managing 3rd party providers in the execution of exemplary service delivery.  


  • Education – Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred; CPP or industry equivalent preferred
  • Work Related Experience – 6-years of management experience in corporate security, loss prevention, law enforcement, or industry related field
  • Thorough knowledge of corporate security operations, including interdependencies with key business partners such as risk management, legal, human resources, information technology, and facilities management
  • Experience managing third-party contracts and holding suppliers accountable, at least on a quarterly basis, for quantifiable results
  • Availability – must have ability to work flexible schedule. This includes evenings, weekends and holidays. 24x7x365 on-call for security and emergency event response.
  • Strong organizational skills - detail oriented, ability to prioritize and be proactive. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. Flexible, able to deal with change. Impeccable attention to detail
  • Working Conditions – 40-60% travel, including both domestic and international. Primary working location is within an office environment, but duties require frequent on-site visits to manufacturing and distribution facilities
