Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer shall provide quality support to assigned production operations to ensure the integrity of components and products produced by those operations. The individual will aggressively drive quality improvement efforts in assigned area with goal of achieving “zero defect” performance and support process improvement and problem-solving efforts with focus on protecting and improving product quality. The individual should be flexible and adaptable, and able to multitask and work autonomously.


  • Oversees integrity of product quality for assigned area through participation as integral part of manufacturing team.
  • Drives and champions quality improvement efforts.
  • Provides expert analysis, guidance and support to Production in Process Improvement activities, including effective use of Problem-Solving tools / techniques and statistical analysis.
  • Responsible for New Product Qualification, and verification of changes to current product.
  • Through the application of APQP, supports the external customers in New Product Introduction.
  • Ensures that internal customer needs for Control Systems are met in a timely and functional manner.
  • Results for this position will be measured by improvements to Customer Satisfaction and Internal Scrap rate.
  • Optimizes Process Capability on significant characteristics through effective application of statistical analysis techniques and training of Production in Problem-Solving.
  • Applies knowledge of Inspection Equipment and Techniques to provide timely data usable for informed decision-making.
  • Utilizes analytical skill sets to implement root cause analysis and provide recommendations for corrective action.


  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Manufacturing Engineering / Quality Assurance experience in the automotive industry preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of advanced quality planning, inspection equipment and techniques, root cause failure analysis, capability studies, statistical distributions, machine (metalworking) and assembly processes, problem solving, team facilitation, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD).
  • Must have demonstrated skills in 8D problem solving.
  • Must have demonstrated auditing skills.
  • Must have demonstrated blue print reading and interpretation skills, including GD&T.
  • Must have demonstrated skills with PPAP and product verification methods.
  • Knowledge of QS-9000 automotive quality standards required.
  • Knowledge of TS/IATF 16949 required.
  • Experience with Supplier Development a plus.
  • Experience with report writing in Microsoft Word and graphical analysis in Microsoft Excel strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Minitab for statistical analysis preferred.
  • ASQ Certification a plus.
  • Six Sigma Certification a plus.
  • German Proficiency required
