Global Engineering. Modular Design. Circular Thinking.
Battery Systems You Can Trust
With extensive experience in the automotive industry BorgWarner delivers safe, modular and high-performance battery systems.
Built for Excellence.
BorgWarner powers ahead with state-of-the-art manufacturing and thorough testing that deliver reliable, high-quality batteries. Certified to IATF16949, ISO14001, and ISO45001 standards for performance, safety, and efficiency.
Our warranty concept is tailored to the application for optimized service life and a service-friendly architecture enables a reduction of downtimes.
Flexible Design.
BorgWarner's modular Battery Management System (BMS) platform adapts to all kinds of customer needs. With advanced SoX algorithms (state of charge/SoC, state of energy/SoE, state of health/SoH), functional safety (FuSa), cybersecurity, and scalable control via model predictive control (MPC) and statistical process control (SPC), we unify battery systems into one intelligent, virtual pack.
This hardware and software foundation also enables switching from NMC products to LFP products.
Economies of Scale.
With a robust global footprint and high-volume production capabilities, our solutions achieve economies of scale that translate into cost savings for our customers without compromising quality or safety.
Production facilities in Germany, North America and South America also enable compliance with local requirements (e.g. Buy America Act).

BorgWarner extends battery life and value at every stage: remanufacturing, repurposing, and recycling. Our expert processes restore performance, give batteries new purpose in stationary storage, and recover materials to close the loop. For us Circular Battery Eco System (CBES) means less waste, more impact, all forward.
What ensures Functional Safety (FuSa) in our battery systems?
BorgWarner’s battery systems will meet ISO 26262 standards for functional safety in automotive applications. This ensures rigorous hazard and risk analysis (HARA), clearly defined safety goals with Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) classification, and the implementation of validated safety mechanisms. Our customers benefit from enhanced reliability, reduced risk, and full alignment with global automotive safety requirements.
How do we protect against cybersecurity threats?
BorgWarner's battery systems are being aligned with ISO/SAE 21434 for robust cybersecurity measures across hardware and software layers. This includes secure communication protocols, comprehensive threat analysis, and lifecycle risk management meeting the latest standards in automotive cybersecurity. Your advantages are enhanced protection against digital threats and future-ready system security.
How do we ensure quality in serial production?
All BorgWarner battery systems are manufactured in facilities certified to IATF 16949, the global benchmark for automotive quality management. This helps consistent product quality, traceability, and a commitment to continuous improvement, which are key factors for reliable, large-scale deployment.
Which safety standards do our systems meet?
BorgWarner solutions meet essential international safety and transport regulations, including UN ECE R10.6 for electromagnetic compatibility, UN ECE R100.3 for electric powertrain safety, and UN 38.3 for lithium battery transport safety. These certifications enable reliable operation, regulatory compliance, and safe handling across global markets.
